As the leader of the Manchester-born Brit-pop band the Charlatans, Tim Burgess has released seven albums and won awards and audiences in both his native Britain and the United States. But too often, those feats take a back seat to his role as poster boy and object of teen fantasy. Maybe Burgess will be able to shake off the kiddies with his recent reinvention as a DJ who fuses eclectic funk and deep dub for the grown-up set. Having performed in Iceland, Amsterdam and his homeland, Burgess is now ready to conquer the American scene. Denverites can meet the newborn turntablist this Tuesday night, when Lipgloss and Revolver bring Burgess in to spin at La Rumba for their grand New Year’s Eve party. Locals Michael Trundle, Tim Cook and Tyler Jacobson will also take turns behind the tables. God save the Queen.
