In 2006, Diego Ramos started shooting a web-based documentary on the Colorado music scene, but he says it was a little ahead of its time. So last summer, Ramos, who’s worked as director of photography on the Discovery Channel’s Disappeared, started filming other local acts for another project titled Music Scene Part 1 – Colorado. Ramos says there will be around twenty bands involved in the documentary, including Wheelchair Sports Camp, Foodchain, Della, and Melissa Ivey, as well as KBPI’s Uncle Nasty.
“I really want to capture the essence of Colorado’s music scene,” Ramos says.
Ramos says he wants the documentary to be well rounded and that he’s focusing on bands from a number of different genres. He’s also still getting more bands involved in the film and he might have auditions as well to fill some gaps.
After completing Music Scene Part 1 – Colorado, which Ramos hopes to have wrapped up in about a year, he might follow a similar format and do documentaries on music scenes in New York and California, and possibly a country in Europe.
