The music of Day Dissolved Dream evokes images of Denver’s night skies in November: Clouds drift across the face of the moon while the ambient orange glow of the city lights burns into the midnight blue, limning the clouds with an eerie fire. By turns measured and contemplative, insistent and heady, Day Dissolved Dream’s tones are reminiscent of Robin Guthrie and Harold Budd’s soundtrack work for Mysterious Skin. While clearly drawing from the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and its post-rock brethren, Day Dissolved Dream also tastefully incorporates elements of the more avant-electro pop of groups such as Broadcast, using effected keyboards to blur the textures and fray the smooth edges, creating a sea of long chords and hypnotic droning. Catch Day Dissolved Dream this Tuesday, November 14, at the Walnut Room, with like-minded acts the Life There Is and Tokyo’s Green Milk From the Planet Orange.
