In advance of their appearance at Bop Skizzum‘s upcoming Nerd Prom at the Gothic Theatre on Friday, February 10, Della took to YouTube last week with an acoustic rendition of “We Found Love” by Rihanna. The cover, driven purely by the strength of Amanda Hawkins‘s raw vocals, is a fun display of Della’s versatility. Although the electro-pop swizzle of Calvin Harris if conspicuously absent from this stripped down version, Della’s take is charged with so much charm and emotion, you’ll hardly notice that Hawkins sings the wrong lyrics in the chorus. If anything, her “We fell in love in a hopeless place” just gives the cover more meaning. Page down to have a look.
