Dirt Nasty has become something of a YouTube sensation with his absurdly profane lyrics and equally ridiculous videos. Although his given name, Simon Rex (Cutright), may not be immediately familiar to most, he’s probably been in at least a few movies you’ve seen — or perhaps you remember his stint as a VJ on MTV in the ’90s. The Dirt Nasty persona is Rex’s rapping alter ego, which ultimately comes off as an inspired joke — not a parody so much as an embracing of a subculture while personifying a playful yet wry caricature of its trashiest excesses. Dirt Nasty has toured with the likes of Mickey Avalon, a good friend of his who happens to be one of the trashiest, most shlocky acts around.
