DJ Ktone brought together a variety of contributors for Left Lane Music vol. 1. The album is heavy with tracks from Denver artists like Anxious (for the smoker-friendly joint “Put It in the Air”) and Innerstate Ike (check him out alongside E-40 on the street love song “From the Soil,” in which Ike nonchalantly raps about being “in the hood like an alternator”), and Ktone uses unlikely pairings to create a cohesive project that’s mixed almost like a movie soundtrack. There’s a gangster track from Julox (“Ain’t Nobody”) with a haunting piano-driven beat, and a triumphant finish from Waxx, AP and YG (“Swag it Up”) that features dreamy guitar and whistling bass, perfect for AP’s “fly as feathers” similes. On the whole, Left Lane is a heater. The rappers are hungry, the beats are solid, and the flows are distinctive.
