DNA Picasso is one of the top hip-hop artists in Denver, and perhaps the most community-oriented. He's built the Colorado Music Industry Alliance, a one-stop shop for Colorado artists in need of networking and resources. Last month, he was honored by the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts with the MSU Next Wave Leadership Award.
Last year, he and his partner, the acclaimed poet Dominique Christina, collaborated on a 2025 Best of Denver award-winning album, LAWLESS: A Love Story. Christina has authored four books, with her latest, Anarcha Speaks, winning the National Poetry Series award in 2017; she also wrote and acted in the HBO series High Maintenance.
Now, Westword members have a chance to see this power couple collaborate in person, with an intimate concert at our office on Thursday, May 8. Doors will open at 6 p.m. at 1278 Lincoln Street, and the duo will perform at 6:30 p.m. A short Q&A with Christina, DNA Picasso and me (music editor Emily Ferguson) will follow the performance.
Our members concerts offer a free, exciting way to experience work by some of the best artists in the Denver music scene. We've hosted genres across the board, from indie duo Blankslate to hard-rock band Ipecac and a collaborative set from ego n friends — all acts that have won Best of Denver awards.
To attend the show, become a Westword member and then be on the lookout for an email invitation to the concert. After you RSVP, you will receive a reminder the morning of the show. See you there!
