Just in time for the Friday, June 20, reunion show featuring the Fluid – among the best Denver bands of the past quarter century – Backbeat Online is offering a cyber-history of the act in words and images.
The June 19 Westword includes a new profile of the five-piece plus a Message column focusing on TV news cameraman Jim Hucks, who captured some of the best video of the outfit at its peak. In addition, peruse extended Q&As with all five group members: lead singer John Robinson, guitarist James Clower, guitarist Rick Kulwicki, bassist Matt Bischoff and drummer Garrett Shavlik. They provide in-depth information about the entire musical era replete with occasional contradictions that only add to the fascination. In addition, check out complete coverage of the band’s June 15 warm-up gig at the Larimer Lounge, a slideshow featuring over fifty vintage photos and the original 1993 music column about the quintet’s breakup, which predated Westword‘s Internet archive.
And now, without further ado, let it flow. – Michael Roberts
