$20,000

Hooray for Gauntlet Hair and congrats to Dead Oceans for having the good sense to add the Lafayette-based duo to its roster. The outfit attracted the attention of the “instantly spellbound” label with a pair of 7-inch releases, one on Mexican Summer and the other on Gorilla Vs Bear’s Forest Family Records.

Looks like Gauntlet Hair (due tonight at the Bluebird with the Dodos) is going to be in fine company at Dead Oceans. The Austin-based imprint, which is co-owned Phil Waldorf and the dudes from Secretly Canadian and Jagjaguwar, is also home to a number of other estimable acts such as Akron/Family, Dirty Projectors, John Vanderslice, Destroyer, the Donkeys, Tallest Man on Earth and Frog Eyes.
