Independent Journalism in Denver Needs You
We need to raise $25,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
16 Horsepower, Friday and Saturday, September 22 and 23, at the Bluebird Theater, is in town to celebrate the release of an EP (issued by Ricochet Records) that is meant to introduce the band to a larger public prior to its full-length debut on a major label, A&M. But for those of us for whom Jean Yves Tola, David Eugene Edwards and Keven Soll need no introduction, these dates are simply a welcome pair of excuses to see one of the finest combos this city has produced–a group that transcends labeling by rocking, rolling and twanging to its own very personal hoofbeats. The music of 16 Horsepower comes damn close to art, but it’s also built for speed. Take it for a spin.
