The music of producer/DJ/vocalist ill-esha is a unique take on some of the most exciting developments in recent dance-music history. Let’s start with glitch-hop’s bit-damaged aesthetic of urban futurism; from there, how about we mix in a healthy slug of dubstep whomp and grime? And let’s not be elitist: We can throw in some electro sizzle, maybe a touch of techno, a little broken beat here and there. Okay, mix that up thoroughly, put it in the hands of a woman who’s not afraid to do it all live or to put her own vocals over the top, and voilà — now you know ill-esha. Get to know her firsthand when she plays City Hall, 1144 Broadway, on Friday, August 13, as part of Stars Come Out at Night.
