Katy Perry won't be fighting off people dangling from wires with a lightsaber at Ball Arena this week.
The pop singer — who has been roasted recently for blasting off into space last month on Blue Origin and for cringey clips of her current tour performances — was scheduled to perform at Ball Arena on Thursday, May 15. But that date now belongs to the Denver Nuggets.
The Denver team lost its last game on May 11 to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but even if the Nuggets lose tonight, May 13, that would only put OKC ahead 3-2, and the matchup in round two of the NBA playoffs will inevitably go to a sixth game. Of course, the Nuggets could also win tonight. Either way, game 6 will be in Denver on May 15.
If the series goes to a seventh game — as the first round between the Nuggets and the L.A. Clippers did — the final game will be on Sunday in Oklahoma City.
Perry's concert has been moved to Thursday, July 10, per the Ball Arena website.
Perry isn't the first performer who's been bounced for basketball. Kylie Minogue was scheduled to be at Ball Arena on Tuesday, April 29, for a stop on her Tension Tour. It was going to be the Australian pop star's first show in Denver, a major treat for Mile High fans as well as those flying in for the occasion.
Instead, the Nuggets played game 5 against the Clippers that night. At least the Nuggets won.
