Lee Burridge

The highlight of this year's Skylab party (slated to take place this Saturday, September 15) is Lee Burridge, who'll be headlining the Beatport stage. Burridge helped create a dance-music scene in Hong Kong during the '90s before returning to his native U.K. and rising to prominence as part of Tyrant, his residency/partnership with Craig Richards. He's since broken out on his own, thanks to several prominent mix CDs and a reputation as an exciting, innovative live DJ. Stylistically, Burridge is often pigeonholed as a progressive house DJ, but that doesn't begin to tell the tale. Everything from dubby techno and funky house to breakbeats, electro house and, yes, even a bit of progressive house here and there makes its way into his sets. While an instinctive ability to juxtapose seemingly disparate tracks has helped Burridge carve out a unique niche, it's his dedication to the low end that makes him such a dance-floor detonator.
