Little Louie Vega

has enjoyed a twenty-year career as one of the most influential artists ever to be involved with dance music. As part of both Masters at Work and Nuyorican Soul with partner Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez, Vega has redefined again and again what house music can be, and he and Gonzalez have arguably become the most successful remix team in the business. With every track Vega releases, he breaks down stylistic barriers and brings music lovers together with a sound that incorporates elements of samba, jazz, Afro-groove and the Latin music he grew up on. His tunes boast an inherent musicality that is simply lacking in the majority of his peers in the scene. With so much rich instrumentation and his progressive use of traditional soul, Little Louie (due at the Church this Thursday, June 8) makes it easy to forget that it’s house that you’re listening to; rather, what you’re hearing is just pure music.
