The 120th anniversary of the National Western Stock Show kicks off on January 8 with a parade down 17th Street from Union Station to Glenarm Place. The Stock Show itself will be in full throttle from Saturday, January 10, through Sunday, January 25, with more than 300 events and activities, from rodeo performances to world-class horse shows.
And there will also be a lot of live music happening around the event, both free and ticketed. See our selections below to set a soundtrack to the celebrations:
Wide Open @ the Stockyards
Sedalia’s Wide Open Saloon is doing a residency in the Livestock Exchange, taking over the bar space and booking bands throughout the Stock Show. There’s no cover, and you don’t need a NWSS grounds admission ticket for entrance. Learn more here.
Legacy Saloon
The Legacy Saloon, found at the first floor of the new Legacy Building at the National Western Complex, will be hosting live music throughout the Stock Show. Country, of course. While the shows are free, you must have a NWSS grounds admission ticket.
Bison Days at Number Thirty Eight
Number Thirty Eight really goes all out for Bison Days, its annual series during the National Western Stock Show that includes both ticketed and free shows. See the entire lineup of country acts and more on Number Thirty Eight’s calendar. Acts include the Droptines, Carly Rogers, Tyler Rich, Josh Gracin and more.
Braxton Keith and Randall King
Mission Ballroom, 4242 Wynkoop Street
Thursday, January 15, 9:30 p.m.
Ticketed
After the action-packed Pro Rodeo, head over to Mission Ballroom, where country stars Braxton Keith and Randall King will be performing all his hits. An $80 ticket package includes a pass to the rodeo as well as the show.
Shows at the Grizzly Rose
With its mechanical bulls, smoking room, pool tables and arcade games, the Grizzly Rose should definitely be a stop during the Stock Show for locals and out-of-towners. Garth Brooks has credited the venue as a massive supporter in his early career, and it has also staged such stars as Willie Nelson, Taylor Swift and more. So it’s no surprise that the venue’s lineup is stacked with bootstompin’ music during the Stock Show dates. Be sure to check its event page for these ticketed country shows.
