File under: Whoa! Uh-uh. Really? Cool! Just received word that my good buddy Brian Johnson, who publishes Marquee Magazine and frequently quotes my tossed off line about smoking like it’s my job, has been named as the new publicist for Boulder’s venerable Fox Theatre. Johnson, who will be assuming his new duties next week, will be replacing the venue’s current publicist, Shauna Murray, who’s relocating to California. Not only is this a great move for the Fox — hey, I’d say this even if Johnson and I weren’t friendly — but for the local scene as well. Since founding his magazine (which he’ll continue to publish, BTW) six years ago, Johnson has been both a faithful champion and even-handed critic of the local scene. — Dave Herrera
