Apothic Nights, Vol. 1 is a collaboration between a pair of underdogs from two different crews: Mid Wes_T from Da Krew and Zé from Diamond Boiz. The sharp production makes for an easy listen, but the sounds hit a little harder than the rhymes; the beatmaking, handled largely by TC Crook and Dyalekt, carries the project. Check for a feature from O’Starz on hustler’s anthem “In a Day,” which finds Mid Wes_T turning in an impressive performance over the hook and echoing beat. Though there is nothing exceptional about this joint save for the production, Apothic Nights offers a nice change of pace.
