Is it premature to call Miike Snow’s “Animal” a ready-made hit? Breathy and quivering, the song’s pop fluency and offhand reggae vibe have already inspired four remixes. (Snag them for free with the original at RCRDLBL.com.) More telling, though, is that the project combines Downtown Records producer Andrew Wyatt with Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg; the latter two have produced Madonna and Britney Spears under the name Bloodshy & Avant. Pitched instead toward indie electronica, the Swedish-American trio’s self-titled debut swivels between pulsing summonses and introverted slow-burners, consistently sung in fragile tones and wielding New Order-worthy hooks.
