“Welcome to my jealousy,” croons lead singer Nick Sanders on Regret Night’s latest EP, Dirty Little Things — but it sounds more like hope. Forged in the pop-proficient rock of the late ’90s, the Denver quartet reveals its ambition from the start, strutting through all the usual topics and warping them slightly to create energy-fueled radio rock. Propelled by Sanders’s blunt vocals and loving lyrics partnered with an almost sprightly rhythm section, the songs expertly soundtrack young love, young money problems and young heartbreak with all the sloppy spirit and public struggles that accompany newfound experience. The guys find their surest — and brightest — footing in the title track, a falsetto-filled sing-along about summer love. But true to the band’s edgy earnestness, this is the chaotic kind: “Will you be there when you see that I’m messed up?” Sanders wonders.  “You can have what’s left of me.”
