German DJ/producer Martin Roth has dubbed his take on dance music “NuStyle,” which involves blending elements of minimal techno, trance and electro into something that, if not “nu” enough to deserve its own genre classification, is at least a relatively fresh take on progressive house. Sounding like a tougher take on old-school trance with much better bass lines and a touch of funk, Roth’s so-called NuStyle has certainly helped him earn a spot in plenty of DJs’ record boxes and kept him busy touring the club circuit. In addition to his own work, he’s done well remixing artists such as Blank & Jones and Armin Van Buuren and dipped his toes into the pop waters with remixes for artists such as Keane. Catch him behind the decks this Saturday, October 16, at Beta.
