Okay, clearly we're being sarcastic with that headline, for it comes as very little surprise that the Fray captured the top spot at Twist & Shout this week. We're not privy to the actual SoundScan numbers yet, but suffice it to say, we're eager to see if interest the act has generated locally for its latest release will once again translate nationally. Behind the Fray, Bruce Springsteen, Animal Collective, P.O.S., Heartless Bastards and Bon Iver, among others, held things down. See the full breakdown after the jump.

01. The Fray - The Fray
02. Bruce Springsteen - Working on a Dream
03. Animal Collective - Merriweather Post
04. Andrew Bird - Noble Beast
05. Willie Nelson & Asleep at the Wheel - Willie & the Wheel
06. Antony & the Johnsons - Crying Light
07. P.O.S. - Never Better
08. Heartless Bastards - Mountain
09. Bon Iver - Blood Bank
10. Bon Iver - For Emma Forever Ago

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
