Ziggy, Julian and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley might get all the attention, but behind the scenes, Bob and Rita’s second-oldest son, Stephen Marley, has been working on his own legacy. He co-produced most of Damian’s 2005 breakthrough album, Welcome to Jamrock, and is slated to release two full-length sets this summer. Revelation Part 1: The Root of Life and Revelation Part 2: The Fruit of Life boast such prominent guests as Capleton, Rakim, the Roots and Buju Banton, while lead single “Jah Army” has become a recent reggae anthem. More so than his siblings, Stephen inherited his father’s looks and voice, as well as his songwriting prowess — all of which will be on display when he performs at the Boulder Theater this weekend.
