The shows, which mark Sturgill's last of the year, will take place on Tuesday, September 16, and Wednesday, September 17. Fans will see him performing as Johnny Blue Skies with his band, the Dark Clouds.
The country star has been going by the moniker Johnny Blue Skies since the release of his latest album, Passage Du Desir, which dropped in July 2024. Focusing on more rock and blues, the album marked a change in sonics. After completing six albums prior under his own name, Simpson decided to use the alter ego for the new project. "I kind of wanted my name back for myself. I felt my identity, that we just became a brand," he told Quobuz, adding that he was inspired by Eric Clapton's Derek and the Dominos.
"The name came from when I was in my early twenties," he said. "I'd gotten out of the Navy and moved back to this town in Kentucky, and there was a bartender, this guy Dave, who wore a black trench coat and just stood outside flipping a zippo all the time. And when I'd walk in every day, he'd be like, 'Johnny Blue Skies!' To this day, I have no idea why."

Simpson won a Grammy Award for Best Country Album in 2017 for his third album, A Sailor's Guide to Earth.
