Hot on the heels of last week’s Valentine’s Day challenge in which the Fray reportedly wrote and recorded a love song in 24 hours at the behest of Q Magazine, comes this oddity: Evidently, Isaac Slade and company — prompted by God only knows what — recorded a cover of Kanye West’s “Heartless” on Radio 1, which he then posted on his blog today (scroll down — it’s toward the bottom of the page). Gotta be honest, didn’t see this one coming. Insta-take: far less forced and awkward than the Beyonce cover the act tried to pull off live at the Gothic last month, but no less inexplicable. On a related note: The band no longer holds the top spot on the Billboard 200. With 75k in sales this week, the Fray has dropped to number four on the chart.
