Last year's 5280 Awards, a ceremony dedicated to honoring the Mile High City's hip-hop and R&B artists, caused a bit of stir in the scene, mainly due to the process by which the nominees were chosen. At issue: Last year's nominees were chosen based off word of mouth. This year, organizers streamlined the process and asked artists to submit their work for consideration to be voted on by the public.

The results in each category, including "Town Reputable Award," which goes to the artist or group whose name best represents Colorado, "Mixtape of the Year" and "Video of the Year," among others, will be announced this Sunday, December 12, at the awards ceremony, which is slated to take place at the Red Lion Hotel. The festivities are being hosted by Reality and will feature KDJ Above behind the decks.
