Lisa Shaw’s smooth, sultry voice is utterly unmistakable. Arguably the most noteworthy singer in contemporary house music, the modern-day diva has worked extensively with the one-and-only Miguel Migs on numerous tracks for Naked Music and Migs’ newer label, Salted. Shaw’s ubiquitous vocals are practically synonymous with deep, soulful house. Fans of the genre are in for an extra-special treat tonight, as Shaw performs at the posh Jet Hotel alongside DJ Foxx of the Casa del Soul Collective.
After years of pushing quality house music in Denver nightclubs (and putting Denver on the tech-house map with the release of the first Casa del Soul track, “the Collective”), Foxx recently relocated to the warm shores of Miami. You can’t really blame the guy, but he is sorely missed, so his appearance will be a special one as well. Ty Tek (Casa del Soul, Phrunky) and Tony Rodelli (Phrunky, Big Wheel) play on the second floor along with special guests. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show goes until 2 a.m. ($5, 21+)
