A while back, we ran a feature detailing the ins and outs of Innerstate Ike’s rise as celebrated MC in the hip-hop scene. In that piece, Ike gave great detail to the night when he was shot, leaving the MC paralyzed and his best friend, Colfax Cac, dead. In homage to the slain rapper’s influence on the anniversary of his passing, a touching tribute video has been making the rounds.
The video is essentially a celebration of the MC’s life, with footage of Cac rapping with Ike and others, interspersed with clips of family and friends singing the words to the hook (keep an eye out for a noticeably younger DJ Ktone amongst the crew). The news stories and media sound bytes used give a much more real and somber tone to the piece, while the shots of Montbello and those who love Cac the most bring emphasis to community support behind him. Many who knew Colfax Cac speak of his influence on the rap game in Colorado, and as evidenced by this tribute video, he is truly missed.
