Yonnas Abraham, the perpetually creative, envelope-pushing MC and producer of BLKHRTS and The Pirate Signal, has landed a track on Wild Water Kingdom, the forthcoming mixtape from Das Racist‘s Heems. Spotlighted yesterday on Pitchfork, the cut, “Killing Time,” which Abraham produced under the masterful moniker of Yorrissey, is built around bits and pieces of Echo and the Bunnymen’s “Killing Moon,” and will appear alongside tracks from Diplo and others. The track is dope. Page down to hear it and read about how the pair hooked up.

The collaboration was spurred by a recent Twitter exchange between him and Heems. “One day he said, ‘I still don’t have any flips of Killing Moon in my inbox,'” Yonnas explains. “I tweeted back, ‘Echo and the Bunnymen?’ He said, ‘Yeah.’ So I made it and e-mailed it to him, and two weeks later he was like, ‘Send me the stems!’ Two weeks later, here we are!”

Abraham has been keeping plenty busy lately. He was also tapped recently to remix a track for Fixers from the U.K. called “Really Great World” for a planned seven-inch, and he’s in the midst of working on JZBL JNKNS (Jezebel Jenkins), BLKHRTS’ forthcoming full-length, which is slated for release in the first quarter of next year.
