Talk about burying the lead. A just-issued release from the Denver District Attorney's Office is entitled "Man Charged With Sexual Assault on a Child" -- and indeed, Mark Mathias, 48, has indeed been formally accused of this crime. But even more shockingly (and disgustingly), he allegedly arranged to have sex over nine months with the fourteen-year-old daughter of a woman he paid for the privilege.
Kinda puts all those crappy things your mom made you do in perspective, doesn't it?
The mother in question hasn't been named yet, but she's reportedly behind bars, as is Mathias. I'm okay with that -- and presumably the woman's daughter is, too. Get the rest of the details below:
MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ON CHILD
Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged a man in connection with repeated sexual assaults on a teenage girl, allegedly arranged by the girl's mother for money.
Mark Mathias (dob:04-06-61) has been charged with soliciting for child prostitution (F3), sexual assault on a child (F4), and sexual assault on a child pattern of abuse (F3).
The charges allege that Mathias sexually assaulted a fourteen-year-old girl from June 2008 until March of 2009. The charges further allege that the defendant paid the victim's mother, who allowed the sexual assaults to occur. The mother was charged earlier with pimping of a child (F3) and pandering of a child (F3) and remains in custody in the Denver County Jail; her bond is set at $200,000.
Mathias also remains in custody in the Denver County Jail; his bond is set at $100,000. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County courtroom 12T for formal advisement of the charges on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 9 a.m.
