Class is out until August for the children, but students of the weed industry might be interested in some of the summer-school opportunities presented by Clover Leaf University in this week's Cannabis Calendar.
Clover Leaf University is offering three different classes on the world of legal marijuana on Tuesday, June 23, in Suite 122 of 3888 East Mexico Avenue. Pot scholars can attend all three courses if they'd like, with Responsible Vendor Certification ($99) taking place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Responsible Cultivating ($199) running from 4 to 8 p.m., and Responsible Consuming finishing it up from 8 to 10 p.m. Certificates from CLU and the Colorado Department of Higher Education will be presented upon course completion. Funky Buddha Lounge will host High Social Happy Hour by Blazer — a happy hour for the cannabis industry — on Tuesday, June 23, at 5 p.m. The free, 21+ networking social will also be gathering signatures for the marijuana public consumption proposal for the November 2015 ballot. Puff, Pass and Paint will spotlight a special "Bob Ross Class" on Thursday, June 25, at 7 p.m. at 2900 Marion Street. Local artist Heidi Keyes will teach an art class in honor of the super-chill, afro-rocking badass so many of us loved to watch paint waterfalls on Sunday mornings. Uncalled Four Comedy will host its season finale of Last Asshole Standing on Friday, June 26, from 8 to 11:45 p.m. at the Oriental Theater. Mixed Bag: Marijuana in the Highlands — a photo exhibition on the movement toward cannabis legalization — will be open for viewing through Saturday, June 27, at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center. The National Cannabis Industry Association's Cannabis Business Summit will be in Denver June 29-July 1, at the Colorado Convention Center. Just about every topic pertaining to regulated cannabis will be covered in depth at this pot-money hotbed — from accounting and finance to security and sustainability. Dozens of keynote speakers will be available for questions during panel discussions, and there will be daily networking opportunities. Tickets start at $895. The NCIA will also bring festivities to Denver's pot industry on Tuesday, June 30, with the NCIA & Bhang Corporation Present: Cannabis Carnival II at the Fillmore Auditorium. The celebration will feature live music from Medeski Martin & Wood, Everyone Orchestra, Quixotic and Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation. Clover Leaf University teaches Cannabis Cultivation 102: Warehouse Cultivation at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, in the office buildings at 3888 East Mexico Avenue. The four-hour course focuses on the components of cannabis growing mediums, watering, lighting, ventilation and cycles. Curriculum also includes pest-control methods, advanced harvesting techniques and the importance of curing. The cost to attend is $299, and attendees will receive a certificate upon completion.
