Denver Police responded to a report of a shooting at 9:58 a.m. at 2915 North Pontiac, to find a black male in his early 20s suffering from a gunshot wound.
Detective John White said the man was sitting in a green Toyota two-door on the street in front of the house at 2915 North Pontiac Street, when a suspect or suspects fired several shots into the vehicle. White said police are unsure if the suspects were on foot or in a car during the shooting.
Police received a 911 call from "someone in the vicinity who may have heard the shots," White says. Police are not sure if the man lived in the neighborhood, or what type of gun was used during the shooting.
The man was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Wednesday morning's shooting marks the third reported murder in three days in Denver, by Westword's count. White said he could not comment without looking at the statistics, on whether the holidays are any more dangerous than other times of the year.
