Now, a second CU former CU linebacker, Michael O'Connor, has been arrested in the case -- reportedly for letting Sipili join in a sex act without the female involved giving consent.
The news release from the Boulder Police Department on view below doesn't get into specifics about these details, but the Boulder Daily Camera quotes a police report that does. An excerpt from the Camera piece:
According to a police report, O'Connor was having consensual sex with a 22-year-old woman he met at a bar on Dec. 4 when Sipili entered the room and started having sex with the woman without her consent. The woman told police O'Connor continued to engage in sex acts with her that were no longer consensual.According to the report, O'Connor also tried to cover up blood that was on his sheets after the encounter and told police the blood might be from an old scrape on his knee. A rape examination later revealed the woman had multiple tears to her vagina.

But it's his off-the-field activities that are earning attention now.In consultation with the Boulder District Attorney's Office, Boulder police have arrested a second University of Colorado student on a felony warrant in connection with a sexual assault that occurred in an off-campus residence in December. Michael Theodore O'Connor, date of birth June 30, 1989, turned himself in to the Boulder County Jail at noon today. He is charged with one count of accessory to a sexual assault, a class 5 felony. Bail was set at $10,000.
The arrest is the second in the ongoing investigation. University of Colorado student Michael Sipili was arrested on Jan. 11 on a felony warrant alleging one count of sexual assault.
Police have been investigating allegations against Sipili and O'Connor since 4:45 a.m. on Dec. 4, 2010, when they were called to an apartment complex in the area of 27th Way and Moorhead Avenue. A 22-year-old woman reported that she was sexually assaulted by a male at an acquaintance's home. The female said the incident happened after she and another female friend met a group of males at a downtown bar in Boulder and agreed to hang out with them at a local residence. The allegation is that Sipili engaged in sexual activity with the victim without her consent and after she repeatedly told him no and that O'Connor was an accessory to this crime.
The Boulder Police Department will not be releasing any additional information about this case, as the investigation is continuing.

The Boulder Police Department has announced that Sipili was arrested mere hours ago on a sex assault charge.

AT COLORADO: 2010 (Sr.) -- He started all 12 games at the "mike" linebacker position, earning honorable mention All-Big 12 honors from the Associated Press. In playing 655 snaps from scrimmage, he led the team in tackles with 94, with his 51 solo the second-most. His 11 for losses were also a team high, a total which included three-and-a-half quarterback sacks. He added four third stops, eight tackles for zero, a quarterback pressure, an interception, a forced fumble and a recovery. Top games included at Oklahoma, when he had a career-high 12 tackles, with a sack and a third down stop; versus Texas Tech, an 11-tackle effort; at Nebraska, where he made 10 tackles; and versus Baylor, a 9-tackle game with a forced fumble and the first and only interception of his career. He was CU's linebacker of the game for his efforts in a 34-14 win over Iowa State, when he had six tackles, three solo including two for losses and a quarterback sack, as well as a fumble recovery that he returned 45 yards for a touchdown, the lone score of his college career. He had a huge spring, with 20 tackles (10 solo, four for losses) and two third down stops in the three main spring scrimmages.2009 (Jr.) -- He played in 10 games, including three starts (Texas, Kansas State, Iowa State), missing the opener against Colorado State with a sprained knee and did not play at West Virginia. In 263 snaps from scrimmage, he was in on 39 tackles, 21 solo, two for losses and two for no gain, with three third down stops, two hurries and a forced fumble (at Oklahoma State). He had a career/season-high 10 tackles versus Missouri (four solo), and recorded eight (four solo) the following week against Texas A&M. He had six tackles at Texas (five solo, one for a loss). One of the recipients of the team's Gold Group Commitment Award as selected by the coaches, as the honor recognizes excellence with class in a variety of areas. Phil Steele's College Football ranked him as the No. 57 inside linebacker in the nation heading into the year.
2008 (Soph.) -- He saw action in eight games, seven on defense, which included starts in the first three games of the year. He had 19 tackles on the season (11 solo) in 127 plays from scrimmage. He added two third down stops, two quarterback hurries, a caused interception and a pass broken up. He had five tackles in two games, versus Colorado State (one solo) and West Virginia (all solo). He also had five knockdown blocks to spring the return men on special teams duty.
2007 (RS) -- Redshirted; he was involved in an off-campus incident that led to CU's Office of Judicial Affairs suspending him from school for the fall semester. Prior to not being allowed to practice, he was selected by the coaches as the Scout Team Defense award winner for the Colorado State game.
2006 (Fr.) -- He earned honorable mention Freshman All-America honors by The Sporting News, as he saw action in all 12 games, including 10 on defense with two starts (Missouri, Nebraska). He was in for 155 snaps from scrimmage and posted 31 tackles for the season (16 solo), with three third down stops, one quarterback pressure and a pass deflection. He had a season- and thus career-high seven tackles (four solo) in the finale at Nebraska, perhaps setting the stage for the rest of his career. He also had five against Iowa State and four each against Arizona State and Georgia. On special teams, he had three points on the strength of a knockdown block, a wedge break and a first downfield to alter a return.
HIGH SCHOOL -- Rivals.com ranked him as the No. 34 inside linebacker in the nation, and as the No. 4 overall prospect from the state of Hawaii. He was named first-team all-state (Honolulu Advertiser) and first-team all-league (IHL) as a senior, when he split time between inside linebacker and defensive end. He recorded 61 tackles, 11 for losses including eight quarterback sacks, five fumble recoveries, four forced fumbles and made three interceptions. On offense, he occasionally played some fullback, in either short yardage or goal line situations, rushing for three touchdowns with receptions for four more. As a junior, he was a second-team all-state and first team all-league performer, playing strictly at defensive end. He totaled 50 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions on the year. As a sophomore, he lettered at defensive tackle. Top games as a senior included a 12-tackle, two sack effort in a 21-19 loss to Aiea, and an 11-tackle and two sack game against St. Louis in a 21-12 loss. Under coach Rudy Alejo, Damien Memorial posted a 4-11 mark his senior year, a 4-7 record his junior season and a 5-6 record his sophomore year, though they got on a roll late and made it to the state finals where they lost to Aiea, 9-7. He also lettered twice in basketball and twice in track (sprints and throws) in high school.
ACADEMICS -- He is majoring in Ethnic Studies at Colorado and was on schedule to graduate in May 2011. In high school he owned a 3.3 grade point average, including a 3.94 in his fall 2005 semester. He was on the Honor Roll throughout high school and took advanced placement courses in Spanish and Physics.
PERSONAL -- Born July 10, 1988 in American Samoa. His hobbies include singing, and as he says, "tear up the ukulele," and also loves to dance.
