Monaco Grocery robbery leaves one employee dead (40)

An employee of the Monaco Grocery on East Colfax is dead after being shot last night during an attempted robbery.

Two suspects wearing masks and dark clothing entered the convenience store at 6622 East Colfax Avenue after 8 p.m. The duo confronted the store employee and a fight ensued, which ended with the employee receiving a gunshot wound.

The suspects fled the area on foot. The employee was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Denver Medical Examiner has not yet released the victim's identity.
