Denver International Airport is no stranger to rumors or controversy, but DIA (and men who can’t stop thinking about ancient Rome) scored a big win today when United Airlines announced it was adding direct flights from Denver to Rome in 2025.
Flights from Denver to the Eternal City begin on May 1 of next year, according to United, which is also launching a handful of new nonstop flights across North America.
The Denver airport does not currently offer direct flights to Rome, according to booking site Sky Scanner. United’s nonstop routes to Rome will operate on a seasonal basis from May through September 24, the airline carrier adds. Ticket prices have not been released yet.
On top of flights to Rome, United will start offering direct flights from Denver to Buffalo, New York; Pensacola, Florida; North Bend, Oregon; Peoria, Illinois; Redding, California; and Saskatchewan, Canada, in the spring. Flights to Wilmington, North Carolina, will begin in May, too.

The new flight routes are part of nearly $1 billion in investments in United’s Denver hub, according to regional vice president Jonna McGrath. By next year, the airline carrier plans to have more than twenty direct international routes and more than 160 in the United States.
The announcement comes the same year that DIA launched direct flights to Turkey with Turkish Airlines and ended service with Spirit Airlines.
Talk about a win, win, win.
