Denver's rising rent prices continues to be a major topic of conversation among our readers, as is demonstrated by the number of posts that have collected on a recent Comment of the Day on the topic. What follows is an example of the passions stirred by the increase, if only due to the number of exclamation points used.

Marcus Rose writes:

Oh, here is an idea....MOVE!!!! And another thing, 5K people a month are moving to Colorado and this shit needs to stop. We are turning Denver into the Las Vegas of the 1990's & 2000's....Same exact thing happened and now look at that town: Overrun with nothing but drugs and gangs! I think rent prices need to get to a point where its out of reach for most people so they pick somewhere else to move to. Even Castle Rock is getting out of control....and that's way south! STOP MOVING HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
