Reader: Shave That Beard and Stop Trying to Live Your Hipster Life Downtown

In a recent Comment of the Day, a reader argued that Denver isn't an affordable city for most people anymore.

This argument prompted lots of responses — many in agreement, but some rejecting the premise.

One of the takes that prompted the most reaction, though, was the following post, which suggested that a certain kind of Coloradan tends to break the bank to maintain an aura of cool.

Here's what he had to say.

Russ Ogden writes:
Stop trying to live out your hipster lives in " Downtown." It's not that cool in the first place .There are plenty of affordable places south and north of Denver by like 15 min drive or train . So put up your bowler hats and shave that beard, get a place in the burbs and let the millennials have the high prices . Time to grow up people , that fantasy of living in the city is tired.
