The new intelligence report from the Southern Poverty Law Center, called “The Year in Hate and Extremism,” makes it clear that Colorado isn’t immune from the conditions name-checked in its title.
After all, the cover collage features a photo of Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooter Robert Dear.
The document itself offers details about organizations that fit the SPLC’s definition for hate groups practicing in all fifty states, including Colorado.
Sixteen such groups are said to have operated in the state during 2015, espousing racist, anti-immigrant or homophobic philosophies – with one outfit described as trafficking in “general hate.”
Included among them is The Pray in Jesus Name Project, which has the distinction of being led by a man who was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives: Gordon Klingenschmitt.
Continue to see all sixteen, with some pinned down to specific locations (Colorado Springs is well-represented) and others labeled generally.
