Once more, with feeling.

Don’t know the name or network affiliation of the reporter in this ultra-mediocre photo from the Pepsi Center on Tuesday morning — but I do know she’s a perfectionist. She had to deliver the following rather awkward line about the DNC festivities to date: “The effort to build party unity began here last night — and the surprise appearance by a Democratic titan.” Sounds simple, but she did it over and over again, walking toward her cameraman as he backed up, walking toward him as he zoomed out, crossing in front of him, standing still as he panned to the podium. This went on for a grand total of nine takes before she and her colleague were satisfied.

Clearly, great reporting takes a lot of time — and a fully charged battery. — Michael Roberts
