Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

Things were a little slow here in the Latest Word, but the rest of our site was jumping. Here's a roundup of what you'll find around the site's blogs today.

Cafe Society bit into the strange, new apple fries at Burger King. Sounds ... processed. You can also find the Candy Girls weighing in on gourmet chocolates and news of some Denver Starbucks closings.

Demver chipped in a slide show of the best moments in Democratic presidential campaign history and brought us the musings of free-speech attorney David Lane. Looking great as always, Cat's Pajamas covered the Riverfront Park fashion show and gave the nod to Traci Kern for today's look of the day. As for Backbeat, they put up their own wrap-up, which covers not only today but the whole week. That's it for now, we'll see you again soon. -- Cory Casciato

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
