We Broncos fans have mighty high expectations.
And sometimes, a win isn't enough to put smiles on our faces.
Yesterday's 2015 NFL season kickoff against the Baltimore Ravens is a case in point. The Ravens are an excellent team considered a Super Bowl contender in many quarters, and Denver squelched them with a smothering, attacking defense that could develop into the franchise's best in a generation.
But the 19-13 victory was achieved without Peyton Manning and the offense notching a single offensive touchdown; the only time the team found the end zone was via a pick-six from cornerback Aqib Talib.
Takes on Manning's struggles lit up Twitter during and after the game, with many observers likening his performance to that of Tim Tebow — and believe it or not, quite a few commentators would gladly trade one for the other.

Convince me the Broncos are better in 2015 with Peyton Manning at quarterback and not Tim Tebow.— DJ Gallo (@DJGalloEtc) September 13, 2015
Peyton washed and the Ravens offense didn't have a matchup with Denver's defense. Plenty of people expected the Broncos to win.— Ameen (@MeenHendrix) September 13, 2015
Peyton Manning gave up more points to the Ravens (seven) than the Broncos defense did (six).— Andy Bailey (@AndrewDBailey) September 13, 2015
Tim Tebow's offenses in Denver scored an offensive TD in every game he played. Peyton Manning can't say that.— Jon Martinez (@jonmart49) September 14, 2015
I want TEBOW TIME IN DENVER AGAIN. Peyton is done #RIP— Alex Kamberis (@thekambo) September 13, 2015
Not that I was rooting for Peyton by any means, but the Broncos are gonna suck this year. So I'll take them beating a better Ravens team.— Ron Bower (@RonEB9) September 13, 2015
[Turns on Broncos / Ravens] [holds up to Peyton’s forehead] Yep there it goes. pic.twitter.com/oJSb6asCk4— Dan Carson (@DrCarson73) September 13, 2015
Damn good game going between Broncos/Ravens. Peyton looks old man (which he is) but man this could be one of those Namath w/Rams seasons.— Justin Braddock (@jbraddock1020) September 13, 2015
You never would have been able to convince me that the Ravens would keep Peyton/Broncos out of the end all game zone and still lose.— Sean Grogan (@Sean_CecilWhig) September 13, 2015
Everybody is talking about how good the Broncos D was, but they are forgetting the Ravens. The "God" Peyton manning didn't throw a TD today.— Hawaiian Shirt Harry (@KevinGreager54) September 13, 2015
Peyton just tossed a Tebow pass— Colin Daniels (@southstands303) September 13, 2015
Steps for success for the Broncos for the rest of the season: 1. Peyton retire 2. Resign Tim Tebow 3. Win the Super Bowl— Zach Zylstra (@ZachZylstra) September 13, 2015
