Dear Stoner: I know this is oddly specific, but I figured you’d be the guy to ask: Are there any strains out there that smell like peanut butter? I love the smell of peanut butter and skunky weed together.
Lyme
Dear Lyme: Specific, yes. But odd? Not at all. There are several strains known for buttery or nutty flavor characteristics, and a few of them even have “Peanut Butter” in the name. Find Peanut Butter Breath, for it is your shining light at dispensaries. It’s been popular in Colorado since 2020 and has proven staying power. The smell and flavor are extremely nutty, and remind me of skunky nugs kept in an empty sunflower seed bag.
Peanut Butter Breath’s breeder, ThugPug Genetics, has created other “Peanut” strains, like PBJ and Peanut Butter Colada, that are largely based on Do-Si-Dos and Gelato genetics, but they’re harder to find. Tiger’s Milk isn’t easy to find these days, either, but it’s a lovely nighttime strain with a sweet Reese’s flavor. I’ve also heard of Fluffer Nutter, which has Chem D, Triangle Kush and Jet Fuel Gelato in its lineage. If you’re a fan of the marshmallow cream and peanut butter sandwiches, keep an eye out for this nutty, vanilla-forward strain.
