A Christmas Miracle! New Ramp From Broadway to Southbound I-25 Now Open

Christmas came early on Friday, December 20, when the new, elevated ramp from South Broadway to southbound Interstate 25 opened…right on time.

The ramp is part of the I-25 and Broadway Travel and Safety Improvement Project that started this summer; it replaced the former ground-level entrance that required a left turn off Broadway. That system was bad, but the interim solution during construction – which required a left off Mississippi, then a maniacal merger onto Buchtel Boulevard and an even more murderous merger with exiting I-25 traffic before entering the highway just past Washington Street – was a real horror show.

Now, though, all is calm and definitely bright – if you’re heading south, at least. The rest of this Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure project is slated to continue through at least the spring of 2026, and will involve more I-25 ramp work for those heading north, as well as reconfiguration of the RTD I-25/Broadway station and paving of the parking lot.

For now, northbound I-25 access remains at Lincoln for drivers heading north on southbound Broadway; those heading south are encouraged to access I-25 northbound using Alameda or Mississippi.
