Before the Super Bowl halftime show last Sunday, Kendrick Lamar said people could expect “storytelling.”

“I’ve always been very open about storytelling through all my catalog and my history of music,” he continued. “And I’ve always had a passion about bringing that on whatever stage I’m on.”

As Emily Ferguson notes, the rapper’s performance on February 9 was a major storytelling extravaganza, more like an extended music video than your typical halftime show. And the reviews are still coming in via comments on the Westword Facebook page of Ferguson’s review. Says David:

And that’s what we teach kids. We need to bring back family entertainment for halftime shows: This was bad because he was talking about killing! Fighting and other gang-related terms. Kids see this stuff and we wonder why the world is jacked.

Sad what America regards as talent anymore. The bar was been lowered to the bottom. That was the worst half-time show in TV history. It sucked big time.
