And now Jennifer Bush, a Boulder native, founder of her own natural foods company and former pastry chef at the Bitter Bar in Boulder, has been tapped as the in-house confectionery queen at Lucky's Bakehouse and Creamery, a new venture from owner Bo Sharon, whose market, by the way, was the first in Boulder to shift 10 percent of its food budget to local products, as part of Local Food Shift, a Boulder nonprofit that campaigns to localize our food supply.
"Jen's passions for her craft, honest ingredients and local and organic foods are paramount. We feel extremely lucky to have her on board and can't wait to see her in the kitchen this fall," says Sharon.
The creamery and bakeshop, located at 3990 Broadway, just adjacent to the market and cafe, will open in October and feature all-natural ice creams, pastries and cakes from Bush, who Dave Query, the founder of Big Red F, which owns Bitter Bar (and several other Denver and Boulder restaurants and watering holes), called "really, really talented." And Food & Wine magazine gave the pastry chef a shout-out, too, deeming her desserts "seriously rich."
And Bush is ready to take on the new position. "I couldn't be more excited about this opportunity and to work with the amazing team at Lucky's market," she says.
