Chef Jensen Cummings is about to leave his post at Row 14 so that he can concentrate on other ventures, including Slotted Spoon Meatball Eatery, the spot he plans to open next spring with pals and business partners Johnny Coast and Alex Comisar. Lori Midson joined the crew in Comisar's test home kitchen this week, to test meatball recipes.

But some readers didn't appreciate Cafe Society serving up a taste of the concept. See also: - Behind the scenes with the crew from Slotted Spoon Meatball Eatery - Jensen Cummings is leaving Row 14 to focus on meatballs and Revelry | Pangaean Eats, another new restaurant project

Says agarrison:

Is Lori also the PR for this restaurant?
And agarrison didn't stop there. He also offered this suggestion:
Maybe Westward should do a "Best New Restaurant that Hasn't Opened Yet" category. The Meatball shop would win it for sure.

For the record, we hold to the same rules for Best of Denver that we do for reviewing -- to qualify for Best New Restaurant, a place must be open for at least two months -- and since our next Best of Denver will be coming out on March 28, 2013, that means a restaurant would be open by the end of this year for serious consideration.

As for that Best New Restaurant That Hasn't Opened Yet category, if Slotted Spoon keeps its current schedule, it may have opened by the time Best of Denver 2013 hits the streets, which means it won't be eligible for that, either. But plenty of other upcoming concepts will be...so thanks for the suggestion.

In fact, we welcome all suggestions for possible Best of Denver categories/awards. And we'd also like to hear from readers about how you feel about these looks at upcoming concepts. Post your thoughts below, and read all of agarrison's meatball comments here.
