Bravo just released video clips of the first ten minutes of Episode One, wherein it appears that the competing chefs are separated into groups for snarky evaluation from judges Tom Colicchio and Emeril "Bam" Lagasse -- and it's pretty clear that not all of the chefs will actually get to strut their stuff in Seattle. In order to battle, the chefs must be given a coveted white coat, and it's up to the judges to make the decision.
Pierce, who's part of Colicchio's cartel, which is asked to work service at Craft, his LA restaurant, has to first break down a chicken, and Pierce is confident in his butchery skills -- perhaps too confident: "I could absolutely butcher a pig with my eyes closed. And chickens are actually a little bit easier. This is going to be a piece of cake," he tells the camera. And then that bastard Colicchio stops him dead in his knife tracks, and issues this reprimand: "Jorel, stop, stop, stop. I don't think you understand. I want the bones on."
You'll need to watch the videos (specifically video No. 2) to see Pierce's response -- and Colicchio's concluding words.
And on Wednesday, we'll presumably find out if Pierce gets a shot at taking down his colleagues, one of which is John Tesar, a Dallas chef who D Magonce called "the most hated chef in Dallas."
The opening drama unfolds at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
