Breakfast on the Edge becomes Rupert's at the Edge

The restaurant and bar landscape in Edgewater keeps evolving and improving. With craft breweries, Thai joints and neighborhood bars filling in the gaps around longtime favorites like the venerable Edgewater Inn, it's no surprise that the quality and quantity of options vying for space along Sloan's Lake is rising as quickly as the water level from this year's frequent rains. Now new owners of Breakfast on the Edge, which opened in 2011, hope to further raise the level of restaurants bringing dining dollars to the tiny township.

Susan Olsen and Tim Nevadomski, both restaurant veterans, purchased Breakfast on the Edge this spring and have renamed it Rupert's on the Edge, in honor of Olsen's great-uncle. Rupert is easy to remember and "conveys a sense of comfort and friendliness, and that describes our restaurant as well," says Olsen.

Although the restaurant is open and operating as Rupert's, for the moment the name has not been added to the building. The new owners are expecting to have a sign with the new name delivered this week, so customers may not notice the change until they walk in the door and see changes to the dining room and new items on the menu. Signs of improvements to the menu include house-smoked salmon, gluten-free pancakes and slow-roasted pulled pork -- which will grace both breakfast burritos and eggs Benedict. Olsen and Nevadomski, who are both sommeliers, will also add more wine options to the list of local beers.

But some things aren't changing at this popular spot: The east-facing patio has fantastic views of Sloan's Lake and downtown Denver, and Rupert's will also focus on remaining a breakfast and lunch gathering place, with daily hours from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
