Looks like Chinook Tavern will be the first of Denver's relocating German restaurants to open its doors, with the debut of the new Chinook definitely on for today.

But then, Chinook left its Cherry Creek home almost three years ago -- and before it moved into its current home on South Fiddler's Green Circle, it made an ill-fated detour into the Landmark project.

In contrast, Cafe Berlin just closed its spot on 14th Street in April with hopes of reopening in new digs right on the mall (albeit on the second floor) at 1600 Champa Street within ten days.

But construction has been slow; here's what that location looked like last night:

We have been very busy putting the final touches on our new location at 1600 Champa, Unit 230. We appreciate your patience as we wrap up some last-minute construction work and finalize the decor of the new restauarant at 16th and Champa, right on the 16th Street Mall!!!

This is a big step forward for Cafe Berlin, and we hope to see you at our "Grand Re-Opening". Stay tuned to this website for the specific date and time when we open our doors on the 16th Street Mall for the first time!
