While SmartCo continues its march towards domination in southeastern metro Denver (with yet another store, SmartCo's fifth, opening today in Littleton), northwest Denver is finally getting a new grocery store: Colorado Ranch Market, with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. today at 4860 Pecos Street.

That's right in the heart of the Chaffee Park neighborhood, which was at risk of becoming a "food desert" after another grocery store in the area closed earlier this summer. Colorado Ranch Market (which is owned by Leevers Supermarkets, which runs the Save a Lot stores) received assistance from the Denver Office of Economic Development, including wage subsidies funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, to help with this store.
