Cracker Barrel first moved into Colorado in 1995, when it introduced eateries in Colorado Springs and Northglenn — which has long been its only location in the Denver area. It also has outposts in Loveland and Pueblo, which opened in 1997 and was the most recent addition in Colorado.

But now the Southern chain is adding a new spot in Denver, at 9111 East 40th Avenue in the Central Park neighborhood.  An opening date has not yet been announced, but this Cracker Barrel is currently hiring for 150 open positions, including cooks, servers, dishwashers, night maintenance, and guest services and sales (restaurant hosts who double as store cashiers).

In their opinions on the Westword Facebook post of the news, readers serve up plenty of opinions about Cracker Barrel coming to Denver. Says Ty:
Denver, you weren't missing a thing.
Suggests Bennet:
One of the most appropriately named things in existence. Right up there with "Magic Johnson."
Comments Mike:
This might be one of the weirdest ideas ever. I’ve lived in Park Hill for almost thirty years; this is not the spot for it! Nobody in the community will be eating there.
Adds Dena:
I really want to know what the logic and market research justification for putting a Cracker Barrel in this neighborhood was.
Responds Karen:
Oh, please, Northfield restaurants are always packed with two+ hour waits. It's the perfect spot for Cracker Barrel.
Wonders Josh:
Didn't they change the name for Stapleton because it was racist? Now they're putting the KKK's literal clubhouse there?!
Counters Deborah:
I guess I'm missing something. We've always enjoyed eating and then browsing at Cracker Barrels. Never had a bad meal or bad service. Never felt out of place with any of the other people eating there. We were all there for the same reason.
Replies Nanci-Liz:
I gained five pounds just looking at this.
Adds Linda:
One of our favorites! When traveling, we always look for one! Best food and love the shopping! Been to all of them in Colorado…not sure new location is a “fit,” though.
Offers Eric:
Westword, your headline should read "Family Restaurant Brings Scores of Jobs - Liberals Furious."
Concludes Glen:
Praise the lard.
